West Lafayette is located in north-central
Indiana - just an hour from Indianapolis to the southeast

economic development partnership with the Chamber of Commerce,
Community Development Corp. and Greater Lafayette Progress,

grow jobs. West Lafayette is home to Purdue University, a
public land grant university established in 1869 - forty years
after the city's founding. The university's enrollment stands
at about 38,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Purdue
is famous for its engineering and agricultural schools. Its
Aeronautical Engineering Department was founded, in part,
by Amelia Earhart, who taught at Purdue. Just about every
NASA mission has had at least one Purdue graduate aboard.
Purdue is also highly ranked in business, science and veterinary
medicine and provides a strong liberal arts curriculum. A
Big Ten member, Purdue offers all major sports for men and
women. Purdue boasts a large music hall that seats over 6,000,

Lafayette area is proud of its symphony orchestra, civic theater,
Bach Chorale and art and historical museums. The area is well
