group tours. Learn the history of granite at Stearns History
Museum, Minnesota’s only accredited history museum outside
the metro area. Or view a 1919 Pan automobile and a miniature
circus. Play in the Children’s Gallery and groove in
1960’s exhibit “Pop Goes the Prairie.” Attend
a production at the newly renovated Paramount Theater in downtown
St. Cloud. There is music, dance, drama, laughter—something
for everyone! Enjoy biking, hiking, walking on the many trails
around St. Cloud that include: Beaver Island Trail, the Lake
Wobegan Regional Trail or Quarry Park. Quarry Park was developed
at the site of 21 abandoned granite quarries. The facility
includes a swimming area, hiking and nature trails, mountain
bike routes, four miles of groomed, lighted cross country
ski trails, scuba diving (through local dive shops) and rainbow
trout and bass fishing. The park gives you a glimpse into
the industry that gave St. Cloud the old nickname of Nitty
Gritty Granite City. Take yourself out to a ball game as you
watch the St. Cloud River Bats, a Northwoods League, featuring
Division 1 college baseball players from around the country.
Play a round of frisbee golf at Riverside Park, site of the
1999 National Frisbee Golf Championships. Be a spectator at
any of St. Cloud State University's athletic games. Shop at
Crossroads, mid-Minnesota’s largest enclosed shopping
center. When eating comes to mind take a visit to a place
where they offer affordable family prices, with delicious
foods "made from scratch." A place that is known
for their "Country Skillet Breakfasts served anytime,
Barbara Jean's Embers Restaurant. Or maybe if your up to some
drinks head on down to O'Hara's Brew Pub & Restaurant
for a home brewed ale.
