schoolhouse, pioneer household goods, military items, Indian
artifacts, and old farm machinery. An art gallery features
paintings by several famous South Dakota artists, and specializes
in Indian history. The Corn Palace is a flamboyant building
that seems more Arabian than Midwestern. Mitchell residents
have fun planning new designs and redecorating its façade
each year with multicolored murals made entirely out of corn,
seeds and grasses.
