Michigan
With over 5,000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline and over 112
state parks situated around inland lakes, rivers, and forests,
Michigan is well known for sailing, boating, camping, hiking,
and fishing. Less well known, perhaps, is the fact that Michigan
has one of the highest densities of golf courses per capita
in the nation, as well as excellent skiing and snow boarding
facilities. With recent legislation to allow casinos in Detroit
and the growth of reservation casinos, Michigan has also become
a popular destination for recreational gaming. Michigan is
the only state bordered by four of the five Great Lakes and
with over 115 lights and lighthouses you're sure to find one
along your travels. Many of the lights still guide ships through
treacherous waters. Others have been abandoned, some to be
later rescued by renovation and restoration. Several are open
to the public, a few include museums, and three are Bed and
Breakfasts. The vineyards of Michigan are nestled in the most
scenic areas of the state. Plan a weekend or a day trip touring
these lovely sites and discover the diversity of Michigan
wines. If you're looking for fabulous fall color, look no
further than Michigan--it's around nearly every bend in the
road Along every route, you'll find orchards and country markets,
cider mills and wineries, autumn festivals and even a few
haunted houses. It's spectacular and it's all in Michigan.
