Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech TherapyJobs in
Lawrence, Kansas
Lawrence is a diverse and multifaceted city
that provides all of the amenities of a large metropolitan
area, while still maintaining a strong sense of "community."
We offer a rich and fascinating history, a wide range of exciting
cultural experiences, nationally recognized educational institutions,
and some of the most unique and enjoyable shopping opportunities
in the Midwest. Among the many Lawrence attractions are these:
its shopping, dining and entertainment spots. Visitors come
- on a very regular basis - not only from surrounding smaller
towns, but from the bigger places, like Kansas City and Topeka,
to shop the specialty stores and do lunch or dinner at one
of the dozens of restaurants (many of them one-of-a-kind).
These include Lawrence Antique Mall, Black-Eyed Susan's &
Castle Tea Room, Chipotle & Paisanos of Lawrence. What
sets this retail community apart, though, is its downtown:
a five-block length of stores, restaurants, art galleries
and clubs that extends from about 6th Street to 11th Street
along Massachusetts, the town's original main street, and
reaches both east and west a block. Along this stretch are
trees, benches, pedestrian walkways and an uncommon blend
of the old and new, the preserved and reborn, the locally
owned and national chain. Outdoor sculptures, some permanent
and some part of the annual downtown outdoor exhibit, dot
the blocks. At one end (642 Mass.) is Liberty Hall, rebuilt
after a 1911 fire as Bowersock's Opera House and renovated
in the 1980s as an independent move theater and performance
venue. At the other end (1047 Mass.), housed in a restored
1888 bank building, is the Watkins Community Museum of History.
