Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy Jobs in
Lake Charles, Louisiana

Located on both the Calcasieu River and the lake from which its name is derived, this deep water port hosts a population of over 71,000 people. Lake Charles was settled in 1781 by Mr. and Mrs. LeBleu of Bordeaux, France. It wasn’t until the establishment of a lumber mill and schooner dock in 1855 that Lake Charles received its much needed economic and population growth, resulting in the city becoming incorporated in 1861.
Today’s downtown features a boardwalk around its famous lake, complete with picnic tables, fishing piers and lots of ducks. Be sure to make a stop at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, within easy walking distance. If it’s Saturday, then go indoors at the Old Union Hall for the Farmer’s Market. Or for those feeling lucky, then head over to either Player’s Island or the Isle of Capri casinos for the slots and card games.
The cultural scene in Lake Charles ranges from the Symphony Orchestra to the Heritage Gallery, which is dedicated to the preservation of African-American culture and history. There is no shortage of museums either. The Imperial Calcasieu Museum with its historical displays and art gallery features a 300 year old oak tree, to the Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu, housing the largest costume display in the state. After a long day taking in the sights, head to North Beach-the only white sand inland beach from Texas to Florida. Relax, and enjoy all the city has to offer.
