Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech TherapyJobs in
Kearney, Nebraska
This town in Nebraska was named for Fort Kearny,
a military outpost that provided protection for travelers
on the Oregon and Mormon trails from 1848 to 1871. The “e”
was mistakenly added, and has remained. The city of Kearney
developed shortly after the fort was disbanded. You can visit
Fort Kearny State Historical Park, which is an archaeological
site where several original builds have been reconstructed.
History is also preserved at the Trails and Rails Museum;
several pioneer buildings including a log cabin, church, and
hotel have been relocated here.
Nearly a half-million sandhill cranes gather along the Platte
River Valley in and around the Fort Kearny State Recreation
Area from February through early April. There are interactive
children’s museums with science and career exhibits,
and also a wonderful display of art by Nebraskans.
