The fourth largest city in Nebraska, and also the county seat of Hall County, is Grand Island. This beautiful city offers some subtle yet spectacular scenery and plenty of recreational diversion. There are pioneer displays, museum shops, and a replica of an 1890s railroad town. Fonner Park has lie thoroughbred racing from February through mid-May, with simulcast racing the rest of the year. There is also a large water park, nature center, great hiking spots and a zoo. Every July, Grand Island hosts the Central Nebraska Ethnic Festival, where you might hear Scottish bagpipes while noshing on an enchilada and watching Native American dancers.
