Union County is nestled in some of the most naturally beautiful land to be found in the state of Arkansas. Some of the finest hunting and camping areas in the nation are just beyond your doorstep: woods, hills, and valleys brimming with deer, duck, squirrel, and game birds. The Felsenthal Wildlife Refuge contains 65,000 acres where you can fish for big bass, catfish, or crappie year-round. The Ouachita River offers unmatched scenery, and the perfect setting for a float trip or a fishing trip. El Dorado also boasts two excellent 18 hole golf courses (one public, one private), a private racquet club, and many convenient public tennis courts. There are seven city parks located in El Dorado, in addition to a new million-dollar YWCA with an indoor, olympic size swimming pool. The YWCA also offers many organized sports programs for youths and young adults. Not all the fun in El Dorado and Union County is outside. El Dorado is home to the South Arkansas Arts Center. The Art Center is the home of a theatre group, children's drama classes, art exhibits, arts and craft classes, and the South Arkansas Symphony which features regular performances with a full orchestra.
