Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech TherapyJobs in
Dover, Delaware
The City of Dover is not only the Capital of
the First State, but also the hometown to many of Delaware's
historical landmarks. In downtown Dover you can peruse the
many legislative and government buildings which have stood
for generations, or relax at Silver Lake's popular park and
beach areas. Dover has fun attractions for people of all ages.
You can find NASCAR and harness racing at Dover Downs, ten
nationally recognized Museums, and the world's largest cargo
plane, stationed at Dover Air Force Base. Dover features both
Colonial and Victorian architecture, with beautifully restored
businesses and private residences. The historic Green and
Loockerman Street are great places for strolling or shopping.
Windmills and buggy ruts are sometimes the only sign of our
quiet Amish and Mennonite neighbors who live on the wonderful
farms west of Dover. If you are lucky, you can catch a glimpse
of their daily lives going to market and working the land.
Central Delaware’s Amish community is largely private,
but there are a few ways to explore their traditional culture.
Such as visiting Spence’s Bazaar on a Tuesday or Friday
to browse the open-air and enclosed auction and flea market.
This popular community bazaar is the place to meet a variety
of local residents and area farmers selling their fresh produce.
Lots of great food is available from the Amish community,
including homemade sausages, meats and cheeses, breads, pies
and preserves, kettle potato chips, and ice cream. Stand in
line for a delicious roasted pork or turkey sandwich. Indoor
picnic tables provide a first come, first served dining area.
Spence’s Bazaar is close to the Johnson Victrola Museum,
Delaware Archaeology Museum and Museum of Small Town Life
in downtown Dover. If your looking for some great food for
a nice night out take a trip to Tango's Bistro or Hibachi
Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar. The former Capitol Theater
on State Street in downtown Dover has been renovated and reopened
as the new Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. It features
music, dance, movies, and live theater. The Center partners
with the Grand Opera House in Wilmington to host performances
appearing there. Opera Delaware, Dover Symphony, Delaware
Theater Company, and local theatrical troupes are among the
other performers that grace the stage. Independent films,
foreign films, classic movies, and Saturday matinees for kids
are also offered. Being founded in 1683, it's quite easy to
understand the long history of culture and events in Dover.
Every year numerous events are held around the City, ranging
from fireworks on July 4th, Art Festivals, and Christmas Caroling
on the Green to ethnic parades such as St. Patrick's Day and
the African American Festival.
