Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech TherapyJobs in
Dallas, Texas
The first anglo-American settler built a single
cabin in 1841 high on the prairie of central Texas near the
headwaters of the great Trinity River. Thirty years of immigration
of skilled and cultured European settlers from France, Germany,
Switzerland and England led to a thriving, cosmopolitan center
unmatched on the frontier at that time. Dallas today continues
to grow and is the southwest’s largest banking center,
second in the nation for insurance company home offices, third
in the nation in terms of “million-dollar” business
and number two in convention business. A leader in fashion
and home furnishing markets, buyers have long said of the
Dallas Market Center – “If it doesn’t sell
in Dallas, it won’t sell”. The cultural side of
life is just as active as business in Dallas. There is an
excellent major symphony orchestra, visiting troupes for opera
and ballet, musical comedy, theater, etc. There are world
famous flower shows, horse shows, and art shows and Dallas
boasts the largest urban arts district in America. For example,
the world’s largest bronze monument consisting of more
than 40 larger than life longhorn steers, horses and cowboys
stand at the Dallas Convention Center which, by the way, houses
it’s own art museum (the only convention center in the
nation with one). Dallas is home to the only Asian Art museum
in the southwest, the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist
University has the most significant collection of Spanish
art outside of Spain featuring art from the ninth through
the 20th centuries and the African American Museum has one
of the largest collections of African-American folk art in
the nation and is one of the top five African-American art
museums in the world. There’s also music, the Texas
State Fair, Six Flags Amusement park (which is bigger than
Disneyland) and there’s festivals, food, and professional
sports teams. Dallas is home to more than 75,000 undergraduates
attending classes at Southern Methodist University, University
of Texas Health Science Center, Baylor University College
of Dentistry and countless community campuses. For the urban
city dweller Dallas is an excellent choice.
