Boulder City, Nevada

Boulder City take pride in its quality recreational facilities such as golf courses, the year-round swimming pool, tennis courts, world class mountain bike facilities at Bootleg Canyon and hiking trails that provide residents and visitors a full range of recreational activities. Boulder City's proximity to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area makes it a gateway to the largest, cleanest reservoir in the United States, offering endless camping, fishing, boating, water skiing, hiking, biking and photography experiences. Boulder City was initially created to house the workers who built Hoover Dam, and as such, was a significant and integral part of the successful completion of the Boulder Canyon Project. Constructed in 1931 in the midst of the Great Depression, Boulder City was conceived by the Federal Government as an ideal town, a "model" city to which the American people could look for hope of a better future. Today, as the city with the largest geographical area in Nevada and the only city in Nevada with no gaming, Boulder City continues to provide the extraordinary service, unyielding commitment and inviting, family-oriented atmosphere that its founders envisioned over 70 years ago.

Boulder City is known as a clean, green oasis in the desert. Located just 20 miles from the glitter and excitement of Las Vegas and just a few miles from the grandeur of Hoover Dam, Boulder City offers a quiet, relaxed living environment. With a population of just under 15,000 people, Boulder City residents enjoy a quaint, small town atmosphere with a low crime rate and high quality police and fire protective services.

Once Hoover Dam was completed, the federal government changed the basic function of Boulder City to the headquarters of several government agencies involved in Hoover Dam's water and power operations. Boulder City was supervised and regulated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the federal government owned all land in and around Boulder City.
