Physical
Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech TherapyJobs in
Boston, Massachusetts
Where does one begin to describe all there
is to see, do, become, and experience in Boston? “The
Hub of the Solar System” as labeled by Oliver Wendell
Holmes in 1848, Boston is a blend of old and new, the cultural
and financial center of New England.
Boston is a city of diverse cultures. Immigrants of the past,
the Irish and Italians mix with the newer arrivals, Haitians
and Vietnamese. This city by the ocean, Beantown, is an excellent
city for walking to see the vast array of sites. One of the
biggest attractions is the Freedom Trail, starting on the
Boston Common (America’s oldest public park) and winding
through the city, connecting 16 landmarks that shaped American
history. You can do this on your own or take one of the arranged
tours. Faneuil Hall meets the newer City Hall: the tour has
begun!
Boston has many different tours available to see the city.
There is unbelievable shopping (home of the famed Filene’s
Basement) on Newbury Street and all throughout the city. There
are restaurants and food from every imaginable cuisine, with
an ambiance from casual to ultra-chic. There is Beacon Hill’s
mansions and Cheers – the bar and restaurant that inspired
the television show; there is Copley Square with farmers’
markets and outdoor concerts. Then there’s the Boston
Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Ballet, The Isabella Stewart
Gardner Museum, The Institute of Contemporary Art, the Kennedy
Library and Museum, The New England Aquarium, the swan boat
ride at the Public Park, the FleetBoston Pavilion, a tented
structure on the water for concerts, and the whale-watching
tours that are offered.
The transit system – the “T” – is
extensive. Trolleys will take you along the streets; there
is also the subway for outlying areas.
You may have missed the Tea Party, but don’t miss the
“chowdah”, the seafood, the beans, the Boston
Cream Pie, the soda bread…
