Bend, Oregon
Calling all outdoor recreation enthusiasts!
This is the place to be for all types of exciting outdoor
recreation – kayaking and rafting down the Deschutes
River, fly fishing on the Deschutes, Metolius and Crooked
Rivers (500 miles of streams and rivers stocked with trout
and steelhead), golfers can choose from 20 top-rated courses.
But we’re not done yet! Cycling enthusiasts
have their choices of forests, mountain peaks, lava fields
or desert. Skiers have Mt. Bachelor to conquer – all
3228 skiable acres of slopes! Cross country skiers can also
join in on Mt. Bachelor, as well as snowmobilers. Rock climbers,
do not despair – there is Rock State Park for you and
hikers. Hikers and campers can enjoy the Three Sisters Wilderness
or any of the 2.5 million acres of national forests in and
around the Bend area. Exploring caves (spelunking) around
Bend is another popular recreation for explorers, but for
the slightly less adventurous, picnicking and parks go hand
in hand here – almost all of the parks, lakes and rivers
have picnic areas.
For those of you that consider shopping a sport,
downtown Bend has something for you, too. You will delight
in the many specialty shops and boutiques in addition to the
many outdoor eateries, galleries and other restaurants. Nearby
the downtown area, you will find two regional malls and an
outlet mall.
One day is probably not enough for all
there is to see and do in Bend!
