Auburn, Alabama
Auburn the loveliest village on the Plains
and home of Auburn University, Alabama's largest university.
Feels like a larger city, but with the amenities of smaller
town life; friendly townspeople, helpful neighbors, ease of
movement from one part of town to the other; a feeling of
community and sense of security. Downtown Auburn is the focal
point of the community. This is a lively, thriving retail
area with many shops, restaurants, quaint coffee shops, unique
bookstore, and banks. Several apartment buildings are located
downtown, providing housing for both students and professionals.
Throughout the year, Auburn offers a variety of entertaining
events, cultural activities and educational opportunities
including exhibits, sports, concerts, recreational events,
historical landmarks, tours of Auburn University, theatrical
presentations and shopping opportunities. Auburn certainly
has something for everyone. Even in a short visit, it soon
becomes apparent that the community creates a friendly spirit
that can only be summed up as "Auburn." The University
provides year-round sports entertainment, plus dozens of lectures,
art shows, interesting speakers, and performances by the Auburn
Symphony Orchestra. There are also a number of museums located
throughout the area and region. Recreation facilities include
15 parks, two public golf courses, 20 tennis courts, swimming
pools, municipal stadium, etc. A fishing lake is jointly owned
and operated by the cities of Auburn and Opelika. Chewacla
State Park, which is adjacent to Auburn, offers 690 acres
of park land with cottages, camping, picnicking, swimming,
boating and hiking. Have a great time eating at some Auburn's
own restaurants like Auburn City Limits, Inc, Chappy's Deli
and one of the students favorites Olde Auburn Ale House Brewery
and Restaurant. The Auburn City Fest is located Kiesel Park
in April where many people enjoy spectacular scenery, exceptional
musical entertainment, fine, funky, and hip art in a casual,
relaxing atmosphere. You can stretch out on the lawn and enjoy
non-stop entertainment, or dance to the irresistible sounds,
